Hyundai is celebrating as the 2015 Genesis has been named as the Sedan of the Year by Esquire. The men’s magazine called out the sedan for its sleek design, excellent overall luxury value, and refined driving dynamics. To evaluate the vehicles for the competition, the judges from Esquire took the cars on a 17-mile public road course that goes over hills, plus involves a number of hard-breaking areas, tight turns, and fast straightaways.
For 2015, Hyundai completely redesigned the Genesis from the ground up. The new vehicle platform provides greater rigidity and strength, improving handling and other on-road dynamics. New driver assistance systems like Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, and Smart Cruise Control are available. Hyundai slimmed down the engine offerings, with only two options available: a 3.8-liter V-6 putting out 311 horsepower, and a 5.0-liter V-8 producing 420 horsepower. Another new addition to the model is an optional HTRAC AWD system.
Mike O’Brien, who is the vice president of corporate and product planning for Hyundai Motor America, says that the new honor gives even more credibility to the 2015 Genesis. The award comes from one of the top men’s magazines in the world, with the dramatic design, luxurious amenities, and advanced technologies highlighted by the judges.
The redesigned 2015 Hyundai Genesis has picked up a number of other honors and awards. It was given the Luxury Car of the Year award by Popular Mechanics, was named as Car of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association, took Best Luxury Car of the Year from the Hispanic Motor Press Awards, and was even called out as the Top Family Choice by the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association. The luxury sedan earned a top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), demonstrating that the new structure and safety systems work incredibly well.
