You’ll not only be the first on your block but undoubtedly the fastest if you’re among the lucky few included in initial shipments of the Z06 Corvette. Chevrolet began delivering the 650-horsepower supercars the first week of December. Fortified by high-performance suspension and aerodynamic upgrades, the 2015 Z06 coupe has 200 more horsepower than the standard Corvette Stingray and, at $78,995 including destination, a starting price $21,000 steeper. Early Z06 tests reveal a 0-60-mph sprint of 3.0 seconds and an estimated top speed of 185 mph. A convertible version is also planned.
Like children with their eyes wide-open staring at the bounty under a Christmas tree, adults have eagerly awaited the arrival of the 2014 Corvette Z06. The highest performing vehicle ever manufactured by the American automaker General motors has created an online buzz unmatched by any other unveiling of an automobile.
The wait is over, as the first 2015 Corvette Z06 models are on their way to customers.
Chevrolet has started shipping the Z06 from its Bowling Green assembly plant. Customers should receive the ballyhooed super car sometime during the week before Christmas.
The Z06 offers Chevrolet customers the most performance features in the model’s celebrated history. Customers should enjoy the first ever eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission that combines the benefits of consistent gear movement in automatic mode and giving drivers the ability to shift for changing terrain. Chevrolet touts the eight-speed automatic transmission for ensuring its customers maximize fuel economy, while not sacrificing performance. A stronger, aerodynamic frame reduces fuel consuming wind drag and the removable roof panel provides passengers with view of the sparkling night sky.
Plant Manager Jeff Lamarche remarked, “It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy’s most capable model,” It truly is an amazing car, and we’re thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers.” Lamarche went on to note that the 2015 Corvette Z06 represents the first time since 1963 that customers can opt for a Z06S convertible.
An Engine that Delivers Superior Performance
The 2015 Corvette Z06 includes the new LT4 turbocharged V8 engine. Corvette engineers designed the 6.2-liter engine to deliver an incredible 650 horsepower and 650 pounds-feet of torque, both record numbers that make the 2015 Corvette Z06 the most powerful vehicle ever offered by General Motors. In addition to power, the 2015 Z06 implements three advanced technologies to maximize performance. Owners of the 2015 Corvette Z06 benefit from direct fuel injection, active fuel management, and continuously variable valve timing to produce the optimal mix of fuel and air.
What the Powerful Engine Accomplishes
The turbocharged V8 engine accelerates from a stop to 60 miles per hour in less than three seconds. A quarter-mile dash only requires 11 seconds to accomplish and by the end of the quarter-mile, the 2015 Corvette Z06 reaches speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour. General Motors has created a braking system that stops the 2015 Z06S from 60 miles per hour in less than 100 feet. The 2015 Z06S includes the automotive industry’s first Performance Data Recorder (PDR) that allows drivers to record high-definition videos of their driving performance.
General Motors recommends that customers research all of the optional features that augment performance online, before visiting the closest dealership for a test drive of the 2015 Corvette Z06.
