When the Model S was first introduced, Tesla promised what seemed like a near impossible combination of performance, luxury and a long-range, zero-emissions electric powertrain. We know now that Tesla was able to deliver the car they promised. The Model S has now become a standard bearer for luxury electric and hybrid models. Recently, Tesla released the P85D model that offers an astounding 691 combined horsepower, 687 lb-ft of combined torque, and a range of 253 miles on a full charge. The P85D model can go 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds which is faster than some supercars, while the base Model S can do it in a still impressive 4.4 seconds. It’s a car that is and should continue to be front runner in the luxury segment.
